Grant Would Help with Additional Upgrade to Tisdale Pumping Plant

We are currently applying for a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation grant to add another Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) at the Tisdale Pumping Plant. The application is nearly ready for submission, and we hope to hear back before the end of the year. Adding another VFD would allow the district to operate the pumping plant more efficiently while allowing us to improve response time to irrigation demands throughout the season. We are also pursuing additional Reclamation grant opportunities to install more automated control gates across the district.

This latest effort is on top of SMWC’s broader commitment to strategically modernize our infrastructure. Over the past several years, we have been investing in projects that allow us to deliver water more efficiently, accurately, and with greater operational control. That includes improving water level management and flow measurement, replacing aging equipment, and giving staff better real-time visibility into district operations.
