Modernizing Four Canal Headings in the District

Consistent with Sutter Mutual Water Company’s Strategic Plan and as part of SMWC’s comprehensive infrastructure Master Plan, SMWC is looking to advance continued modernization efforts throughout its existing service area in a holistic and integrated manner. SMWC has engaged with Davids Engineering on the Lateral Heading Modernization Project, which consists of the modernization of four key lateral headings within the SMWC irrigation conveyance system. This includes the heads of the Main, West, Central, and East canals. We envision the lateral headings of the Main, West, and East canals will be retrofits, while the Central lateral heading will include demolition of the existing structure and associated appurtenances, and we be replaced with new infrastructure. All four of the lateral headings will be outfitted with Rubicon gates.
